Some things are just worth the carbs

So I am the last person to advocate eating at any kind of chain. Normally they violate anything I epicurally represent from whether or not food is from a local source, to whether or not you’re in fact just eating a plated TV dinner, to the content of the meal from a quality/caloric stand point. However, every now and again even those that are a bit holier than thou bend their rules. For me that moment comes with a routine visit to Le Pain Quotidien with my sister in the City on the corner W 58th and 7th. This Belgian chain has a well-thought out menu that includes delicious salads, soups, sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and most importantly the bread. Mmm…. bread. Especially when you pair it with the crazy selection of chocolate and praline spreads. Who needs Midol when you can spend a rainy day calmly enjoying a freshly baked baguette with chocolate, jam, and a cappuccino?
