Bedroom dreams…

And no I don’t mean that in a dirty way. My bedroom has been an ongoing work in progress and I have been searching for inspiration to complete it. I’m kind of a Vermont grandma at heart and love to be surrounded by quilts, flannel, old-fashioned spindled beds, wall hangings and books. Its transformation started with hunting down my favorite wrought iron bed on the clearance section of Pottery Barn. I watched for weeks as the price dropped and dropped until I was worried it would go out of stock. Then followed that with committing to my mustard yellow wall color. Waking up on Saturday mornings and being surrounded by yellow just makes me happy and brings a positive start to every weekend.

Then there is the quest for the perfect bedding. Which is just an expensive proposition because you need multiple sets. My bedroom needs to be a space where I feel comfortable being a little messy. I love bedding that looks pretty and comfy even when a bed is left unmade. This is followed by the quest for the ideal clothing storage. I do have to say I have a really serious craving for a mirrored dresser however I was thinking I could get away with painting an old hand-me down one silver to get a similar effect.

It is also the space where I put family pictures on display. So the question is picture wall? Or ledge for them to sit on? I’m leaning more towards picture ledge because I have various prints and figurines that could be layered amongst the photos. Oh the dilemmas in life. Is there ever a point when a project like is done or does it just keep on going?

  1. Ah! So sweet–I’m a huge fan of all mirrored furniture too 🙂 I’d love to see a photo of your bed/yellow wall–I bet it’s adorable!
