Attached at the Hip | Camping


Camping trips help put everything (read: worldly possessions) back in perspective. We spent a weekend in the woods celebrating the little sister’s quarter century milestone and getting back to basics. Hiking, swimming, sitting around a campfire, getting up with the sun, getting slightly rained on and analyzing camping neighbors is super fun. So is coming home.

Even two days away from our home comforts gave us some serious grittiness that we couldn’t wait to wash off, but we’ll be back in 2013, Nature. Just you wait.

To celebrate Agatha’s birthday this weekend we are going to go camping. Yes, my New Yorker, fashionista, “I don’t sit on the subway” sister volunteered to trek into the woods to celebrate her quarter life crisis. No one could have seen this one coming. In addition to sleeping in a tent, lake swimming to cool off and going for walks in the woods, we are going to, of course, be eating. Camping, however, requires a menu of non-perishable basics. We need an agenda, even when communing with nature. Obnoxious signing around the campfire, here we come…
